EDITORIAL: Don't ignore young people in all of this

England will catch up with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland by paving the way for the appointment of a national children's commissioner, and local authorities will be required to appoint directors of children's services and allocate a specific councillor to be responsible for those services. Departments across a range of local authority sectors will be forced to work together, as a precursor to the placing of children's trusts within a statutory framework.

But there is a phrase missing from all of the above that is close to the hearts of readers of this magazine: that phrase is "young people".

Some might say this is just semantics, but actually it is much more important than that. The words used say a lot about the underlying themes behind an initiative.
