Drug programme ends with day out

Forty young people from Morningside Youth Group in Hackney, east London, visited an activity centre last month as part of a council-led drugs awareness programme.

The young people took part in jet skiing, sailing, and tackled a high-ropes course at the Stubbers activity centre in Essex. They had all previously attended drug workshops run by the police and the council, who also joined them on the day out.

Nicolette Nixon, youth leader from Morningside Youth Club, said: "It's good for our young people to get to know their local police and council officers in an informal context - it really helps break down some barriers."
