The cards, which are aimed at 14- to 17-year-olds, carry local and national information and advice for young people on issues including alcohol, drugs, mental health and safe sex. Ten thousand packs are being produced, for distribution across the borough in early June.
The local authority has teamed up with the London Drug Policy Forum and the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards, which is subsidising the initiative.
The cards, which have already been used at Feltham Young Offender Institution, are the brainchild of Simon Gunn, the manager of Hounslow's Drug and Alcohol Action Team.
"If you give a young person a leaflet it will probably get chucked away," said Gunn. "But young people don't tend to chuck away a pack of cards."
