Home Secretary David Blunkett kicked off the 12-week process on 18 June by unveiling a consultation document, Safety and Justice: the Government's Proposals on Domestic Violence, as part of Government plans to help victims of violence and intimidation in the home.
While welcoming proposals in the consultation about incidents of domestic violence, NCH will press for more support and protection for young victims.
Caroline Abrahams, director of public policy at NCH, said: "The Government must put in place measures to ensure that no child is left alone with a violent parent. The legislation cannot be allowed to fall short."
Abrahams said she hoped the new minister for children, Margaret Hodge, would address domestic violence against children.
