Disability: System to improve family information

A programme to improve information for families of young disabled children is being rolled out across the country along with training for health, education and social services workers.

The Early Support Family Pack gives parents a clear idea of services under-threes should be receiving after an early diagnosis.

Training for key workers and managers will be rolled out to 36 pathfinders, after development as part of the Early Support Programme. Brian Lamb, director of communications for the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, where the initiative is based, said parents often had to become key workers to co-ordinate collaboration between agencies.
