The Lough Road Disabled Children's Centre, financed by 680,000 ofcore council funding each year as well as one-off capital grants, willwork with children up to the age of 18 with complex or severedisabilities.
It offers several services under one roof, including short break staysand family outreach programmes as well as leisure and learningfacilities such as sensory rooms and soft play areas. The London boroughis also looking at how it could offer services at the centre toneighbouring boroughs so that children in those areas can accessfacilities not available to them locally.
Liberal Democrat councillor Ursula Woolley, the council's lead memberfor children and young people, said that having all the services andprofessionals under one roof should make a real difference to thequality of life for families with disabled children to care for.
