The report, Out of Reach: Benefits for disabled children, said that 46per cent of parents of disabled children "believe that they have missedout on benefits and tax credits because they have not been told theycould apply".
It added that 43 per cent of parents of disabled children had notclaimed Disability Living Allowance or had taken more than two years tofind out their child could be entitled. The report said: "Much is madeabout the difficulties of ensuring that 'hard-to-reach families' accessservices - all too often it is the services, and not the families, thatare inaccessible." The report added that the Department for Work andPensions should measure the take up of Disability Living Allowance andreduce the complexity of administering the allowance.
