The Every Disabled Child Matters campaign will today (15 August) releasea new briefing asking the Government for the money, along with acampaign to increase the up take of the disability living allowance.
According to the report, Disabled Children and Child Poverty, only sixper cent of more than 1,800 families with disabled children surveyed are"comfortably off" with 93 per cent reporting financial difficulty.
Charity Barnardo's estimates on present policies, by 2010 there will be30,000 more disabled children living in poverty than there were in2004/05.
Steve Broach, campaign manager at Every Disabled Child Matters, said:"The Government has started to make disabled children a priority. Now weneed to see evidence that children's secretary Ed Balls' commitment todisabled children will extend to making sure the child poverty strategydelivers for families."
