Disability: Charities publish volunteering guide

The charities created the free guide with a group of disabled young people, with help from the Russell Commission.

Last week's launch follows research commissioned by Scope, which found that one in three disabled people had been discouraged from volunteering because of barriers such as discrimination and accessibility problems.

Scope's youth volunteering officer, Danielle Moore, said: "One of the biggest factors is reasonable adjustments and the cost this incurs. Scope has access to a volunteers fund that can pay for this, but we felt it necessary to encourage volunteering in mainstream settings."
