
An adoption agency has started advertising children in local newspapers. The Telegraph reports that independent agency Adoptionplus has placed full-page adverts with pictures of real children who are looking for a new home.
There have been very few improvements in services available for young people with mental health problems in the criminal justice system over the last two decades, it has been claimed. A report published today by YoungMinds and the Transition to Adulthood Alliance found that that despite many policy initiatives designed to improve services, few improvements have filtered through to young people.
Plans to axe 12 children’s centres in Kent and reduce the hours that a further 20 will be open have been rubberstamped. Kent News reports that the plans, which will come into effect by April 2014, will see 85 children’s centres remain across the county.
The National Deaf Children’s Society is looking to recruit 17 young people aged 12 to 18 to its Young People’s Advisory Board. Successful applicants will take their seats on the board in March and remain in place for 18 months. During that time they will share their views on the issues affecting them and help shape the charity’s services. Applications close on 24 January 2014.
