
Adverts for payday loans could be banned from children’s television under plans being considered by Britain’s advertising watchdog. The Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice has published a consultation setting out options to prevent payday loan firms from advertising at times when children are likely to be watching. The move follows a campaign by The Children’s Society.
The UK chief commissioner of the Scout Association Wayne Bulpitt is to step down from his role in September next year. A search has now been launched by the youth group’s board of trustees to find his replacement, with the closing date for applicants set as Monday 2 November.
Young people have misplaced confidence in their ability to communicate with potential employers, a survey has revealed. A poll commissioned by YouthNet found that 64 per cent of 293 unemployed 18- to 24-year-olds are "confident" in their abilities to express their skills when applying for a job. However 66 per cent of 590 employers questioned said they reject candidates because they are unable to articulate their skills.
Fostering and adoption services at Doncaster Children's Services Trust have been rated "good" by Ofsted. A report by the watchdog said that the independent trust, the first of its kind in England, was well managed by highly motivated staff.
The number of children in Scotland attending childcare has increased, according to the latest statistics. An annual report on early learning and childcare provision by the Care Inspectorate reveals that the proportion of children attending daycare has increased from 21 per cent of the population in 2013 to 21.7 per cent in 2014.
A website to help boost the employability of young black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) carers has launched as part of a European Union-funded project. The Care2Work website aims to boost the employability of BAME young carers through skills development and accredited training.
