
MPs are being urged to back a plan to ensure all children from poorer homes are automatically registered for free school meals. A primary school in Burnley has warned parents that their children face expulsion if they are caught in possession of electronic cigarettes in class. The Express reports that staff at Lowerhouse Junior School, which has pupils as young as seven, have confiscated an increasing number of the devices in recent weeks.
