Children taken into care after mother allegedly paid by jihadists to take them to Syria; father prosecuted after trying to stop bullies; and children's centres and libraries could be put under the same roof in North Somerset, all in the news today.

A mother of three who was allegedly funded by "jihadists" to take her children to Syria has had them taken into care. The BBC reports that the woman and her family were stopped at Birmingham airport and her seized mobile phone was found to contain images of masked children with guns.

A father who confronted a group of bullies who broke his son's arm and bullied his daughter is to be prosecuted for intimidation. The Daily Mail reports that the man, who has been summoned by police to appear in court, said he intervened when the school and police failed to step in.

Children’s centres and libraries across North Somerset could be co-located in the same buildings as part of council cost-saving measures. The Bristol Post reports North Somerset Council has to save £8.5m from its budget over the next year and is drawing up options to co-locate some of its services. ?

?Four children aged five have been stopped and searched by Cleveland Police in the past six years, data has revealed. The Gazette Live reports an information request on stop and searches of children since 2011 found there have been 58 cases of children aged five to nine being stopped and searched by the force. ?

?A scheme designed to give young people an opportunity to step into work has been launched by the Prince’s Trust in partnership with pub retail chain Greene King.
