
A 10-year-old Muslim boy who mistakenly wrote that he lived in a "terrorist house" during a lesson at school has been investigated by police. The BBC reports that the pupil had meant to write "terraced house". The boy was interviewed by Lancashire Police at his home the next day and the family laptop was examined.
The chair of the education select committee has warned that the role of regional schools commissioners is "confused, fragmented and lacking in transparency". The Yorkshire Post reports the the committee has warned that the role of commissioners is unclear, and that a "more fundamental reassessment of accountability and oversight" for schools is required.
An ex-justice minister has called for the investigation into a father found to have sexually assaulted his 13-month-old daughter, Poppi Worthington, before her sudden death to be reopened. The BBC reports that Simon Hughes says that "justice demands" the investigation's decisions are reviewed.
Early years, childcare and play workers across Wales will be supported to gain new qualifications thanks to a £6.3m programme. The Welsh Government's Progress for Success programme will support workers to gain Level 3 to 6 qualifications.
Children should be taught how to protect themselves from sexual abuse from the age of four, according to Rotherham's Labour MP Sarah Champion. The Telegraph reports that Champion has called for compulsory lessons to be introduced from the start of school to give children the tools to counter sexual abuse.
A life-size "Noah's Ark" for children with special educational needs has been opened in Wales. Wales Online reports that the wooden boat, built by young offenders, is designed to give children the opportunity to play outside.
