CSI - Midlands: Child sleuths star in crime-busting film

Budding investigators from Wylde Green Primary School in Sutton Coldfield search a mock crime scene for clues.

As part of the school's science week, the pupils worked with localpolice officers and scenes-of-crime experts to get to the bottom of a"burglary" from the school shed. They used techniques such as DNAtesting and fingerprinting to catch the thieves, who stole roundersequipment and a trophy. The event was filmed and will be broadcast onthe Teachers TV channel later this year.

Head teacher Peter Barnett said: "We are always looking at ways ofmaking our lessons interactive and enjoyable, so the opportunity to takepart in this programme was too good to miss. It will help show pupilshow important science is in their everyday lives, and it may eveninspire some of them to go on and work for the police when they areadults."
