Crime: Campaign teaches young to stay safe

1 min read

SAFE national anti-robbery week, which runs from 16 to 20 January, aims to "help young people avoid becoming victims of robbery and to send a strong deterrent message to active or potential offenders", according to the Home Office. SAFE 2006 has been developed in consultation with the Home Office, Crimestoppers, the National Youth Theatre and the Department for Education and Skills.

"The packs have been sent to the top 40 Crime Delivery Reduction Partnerships for robbery in England and Wales," said a Home Office spokeswoman.

The pack advises young people not to flash Christmas presents about in public and to keep bags zipped up. The National Youth Theatre is also taking its Keeping it Safe play to schools across London, Manchester and the West Midlands.
