COUNCIL FUNDING: Budget cuts set to affect Devon kids

Children's services in Devon look set to lose out after the county council proposed cutting 11m from its budget.

The council's cabinet said council tax would have to rise by 10 per cent to maintain the current levels of service.

But threats by the Government to cap services have led the council's cabinet to limit the rise to 5.25 per cent.

Children's services are expected to be affected as the costs for some of the services have increased by 25 per cent over the past year.
