The news comes as neighbouring Hammersmith & Fulham Council announced plans to cut almost £7m from children’s services, meaning nine of its 15 Sure Start centres could lose direct funding.
Westminster Council is currently considering plans to merge its children’s services with Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea.
Paul Dimoldenberg, leader of Westminster’s Labour group, accused the council of making "short-sighted cuts" and of knowing "the cost of everything and the value of nothing".
"The planned cut of nearly £1.7m from early intervention will hit Sure Start centres directly and will damage all the good work built up over the past 10 years in helping parents to learn essential skills and giving children stimulating experiences," he said. "The most vulnerable parents and their children will be hit hardest and these cuts are bound to store up extra costs in later years."
