Consultation of the week: Strengthening powers to tackleanti-social behaviour

The Government is looking for views on how police and councils' powers to combat anti-social behaviour can be strengthened.

The consultation follows a spate of measures brought in to tackle theproblem, including anti-social behaviour and parenting orders.

Measures being discussed include extending rules that allow police toclose premises supplying class A drugs to include premises where thereis excessive noise, frequent parties or where residents threaten orintimidate neighbours.
