Consultation of the week: Roles and tasks of social work inEngland

The General Social Care Council is in the process of developing a statement to define the role and tasks of social work for the Government. This consultation aims to help develop that statement.

The document makes proposals for what should be in the statementincluding descriptions of which tasks are best done by social workersand what good social work is.

The draft statement has been produced by the General Social Care Councilwith help from the Children's Workforce Development Council, Commissionfor Social Care Inspection, Skills for Care and the Social CareInstitute for Excellence. The work was commissioned by the Departmentfor Education and Skills and the Department of Health.
