Developed by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), the strategy outlines a series of steps that partnerships should make to give the voluntary and community sector a bigger role in the service.
Steps include increasing Connexions' presence on voluntary organisation premises, getting more Black and ethnic minority groups involved in the service, and teaming up with the voluntary sector to offer young people the chance to volunteer. The Connexions Card may also be used to offer additional rewards to young people who volunteer.
The strategy also urges partnerships to second staff to the voluntary sector and to produce local strategies for increasing that sector's involvement with Connexions.
