The Institute of Career Guidance has written to the Sector Skills Development Agency asking for youth careers advisers to be placed under Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) rather than the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC).
Chris Evans, executive director of the Institute of Career Guidance, said: "There's no logic in the current arrangements and it's more appropriate that we link to LLUK as teachers do."
But Jane Haywood, chief executive of the CWDC, said Connexions workers should remain with her organisation: "They are essential to the integrated working agenda and are a key part of the children and young people's workforce."
