Coloma Convent Girls' School, Croydon

1 min read Education Extra-curricular
What are they doing? Coloma Convent Girls' School in Croydon has built a floodlit football pitch, with the help of a 228,399 grant from charity the Football Foundation.

The pitch will allow the school to increase the number of girls and women playing football in the area, through a number of projects designed to attract new players to the game. Local football clubs and other schools will also be able to make use of the pitch.

What do staff think? Maureen Martin, head teacher at Coloma, says the new pitch will provide quality, safe opportunities to play football for pupils and local people of all ages. "This facility will prove to be a centre of excellence for girls' and women's football," she explains. "We will ensure that football at Coloma is inclusive and that all involved have the opportunity to develop personally and fulfil their goals and potential."
