DCMS launches call for evidence in girls' football consultation

A review into the future of women’s football has opened a call for evidence on issues including barriers to girls and boys having equal access to the sport.

The review, chaired by former Lioness Karen Carney, is requesting consultation responses from individuals and organisations, to identify issues faced by girls and women within the game.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport launched the government review after the 2021 fan-led review of football governance recommended that women’s football needed its own dedicated review.

The fan-led review stated: “There is huge potential for the game to grow further, but to make this a reality there needs to be serious investment in women’s football, in its finances, in its infrastructure, and in the administration of the game.”
