The National Union of Students, Universities and College Union andUnison are part of a campaign to save nurseries in higher educationinstitutions. At least 13 nurseries are at risk of closure according toreports received by the unions.
In a letter sent to the commission, the campaign leaders stated thatmost closures appear to be taking place without an equality impactassessment.
The campaign is urging the commission to intervene and stop closureswhere assessments are not happening. Completion of equality impactassessments is a legal requirement.
