Researchers have been evaluating the Children's Fund during the pastthree years and their conclusions were published in two separate reportslast week.
The first report draws out the final lessons from the nationalevaluation.
It states: "The close relationship between outcomes reported by childrenand families and the Every Child Matters outcomes demonstrate therelevance of the fund to future developments in children'sservices."
The second report elaborates on this by focusing on the experiences ofchildren. A small number reported improved health and fitness. Childrenwere also safer due to initiatives to tackle racism and bullying.Projects to help children at risk of social exclusion, such as theRainer Rapid Action Project (Children Now, 29 March-4 April), werecredited with helping children to enjoy and achieve. And more childrenwere making a positive contribution as a result of improved social, communication and life skills.
