Childcare & Early Years: Sport stars back health campaign

1 min read
Athletes Colin Jackson and Linford Christie have lent their support to a week-long healthy living campaign targeted at nurseries across the UK.

The National Day Nurseries Association's (NDNA) Healthy Body, Happy Me campaign is now in its second year and will run from 10 to 14 March.

The aim is to encourage nurseries to run activities promoting issues such as healthy eating and exercise.

Ahead of the week, a resource pack is being sent to NDNA member nurseries providing information about themed events, including "seed to snack day", where children learn more about food production.

The pack also contains a wall chart, seeds and balloons and nurseries taking part in the campaign will get the chance to enter a competition to win a cooking session with an expert nutritionist.

Jackson said he was keen to support the campaign due to concerns about childhood obesity. He said: "I believe it is important to introduce children to a healthy lifestyle as early as possible, as this will have a very positive effect on their future."
