The scheme is part of NCVYS' Sound Systems package, which was launched in 2003. The accreditation scheme is based on Keeping it Safe, a child-protection guide aimed at voluntary youth organisations.
Susanne Rauprich, NCVYS chief executive, said: "We seek more backing from the Department for Education and Skills to ensure that all organisations working with young people have access to this crucial support."
An update to NCVYS's Keeping it Safe: A Young PersonCentred Approach to Safety And Child Protection will be launched shortly to include new legislation on child protection.
