The scheme, run by charity 4Children, will see health interventions, for example on alcohol and drug-related problems, identified as a priority. The three-year Joining Up For Young People's Health project will run in nine areas to develop and co-ordinate support for young people's health.
Anne Longfield, chief executive of 4Children, said: "It will bring together various areas' health strategies and local authorities' extended schools strategies to form an approach to young people's health and then we will be able to review it."

This will include health-themed arts and group activities, individual health awareness programmes and interactive tools. Health visitors and health professionals will also run sessions to give young people access to health information.
