CHARITIES: Young people's groups look at forging closer ties

The Children's Centre Project will investigate how collaborating can enable the charities to deliver more public services.

Six of the organisations - the National Children's Bureau, Family Service Units, I Can, The Place 2 Be, the Who Cares? Trust and Young Minds - are even considering sharing the same premises. The seventh, ChildLine, will retain its own location.

Dinah Morley, deputy director of Young Minds, said: "We went in with the idea of sharing premises, since that could cut costs such as switchboards and meeting rooms. But talks went on to sharing other costs. Our project team has been commissioned to look at the feasibility of the idea."
