The Gardeners' World presenter has been working with a group of young adults for the past year, developing a six-acre site in rural Herefordshire, and is now looking to raise 1.5m over the next year to continue the work.
He hopes to use the money to buy a piece of land, and then endow it to the scheme for five years. But he also plans to use this as a base to train other people who are interested in developing their own projects.
"The goal is to have lots of similar sites operating all over the country," he said. "They could be in the middle of a town."
