It is a government-funded personal development scheme for 16-year-olds. Twelve pilot schemes are taking place over the summer holidays, which will include a residential element. Who is running the National Citizen Service?
Twelve pilots for 2011 are being run by Bolton Lads & Girls Club, a Catch 22 consortium, the Devon Consortium, the Field Studies Council, Football League (Community), Lincolnshire and Rutland Education Business Partnership, Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, Safe in Tees Valley, The Challenge Network, The Prince's Trust and V. Organisations are currently bidding to run the 2012 pilots, which will offer 30,000 places.
