The service has been created in response to an increasing number of requests from local authority social service departments, managers said.
Jamie Bromfield, manager of the service, said the foundation's experience and knowledge of caring for children would stand it in good stead. "Caldecott provides a joined-up service - assessment, residential care, therapy, psychology, education and now fostering, with carers who can call upon any of our services," he said.
Bromfield added that, in particular, it would be able to find appropriate foster care for children who have suffered multiple placement breakdowns.
The Caldecott Foundation, based in Ashford in Kent, provides care for children aged from five to 16 who have suffered abuse or neglect. As part of its new service it has developed a package of support for foster carers to include training and on-call support.
