Call for real-life drugs education

Young people want real-life examples of the dangers of drugs to be a major part of drugs education.

More than 100 young Londoners told ministers their viewson drugs education at a special event hosted by the Home Office, as part of its consultation Drugs: Our community, your say.

Rosita St James, 17, from Croydon said: "If you showed young people the consequences it will speak to them more than being talked to by people who haven't been through it themselves."

Home Office minister Vernon Coaker said there was scope for more action to crack down on the proceeds of drug dealing to show young people crime does not pay.

"If you have someone funding a flash lifestyle through criminal activity we want to look at whether or not we can take these things away from them," he said.
