Cafcass: Departed directors won't be replaced

1 min read
Cafcass chief executive Anthony Douglas has decided not to replace two senior directors who left the organisation as he looks to trim head office operations.

Sarah Carrington, director of human resources, left the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service on 30 September, two months after the departure of Anne Chan MBE, the director of operations.

The duo were among the organisation's highest earners, according to its 2003/04 annual report and accounts. Carrington was on 80,000 a year and Chan was paid 87,000, both including performance pay.

Chan had been with Cafcass since April 2002 while Carrington joined on 1 May 2001, a month after it was formed.

Carrington's position has been taken in the interim by Carmel Hesketh, but Cafcass said this week that Douglas's proposed restructure of its headquarters and management functions meant he wouldn't recruit permanent staff to fill the roles.
