Who will it help?
The programme helps children and young people aged 18 or under that are living with parents or carers, and young people aged 20 and under who are living independently, estranged or orphaned. The charity prioritises applications from children and young people who are facing exceptional difficulties or crisis issues such as severe poverty and deprivation, as well as social problems linked to illness, abuse and domestic violence.
How much is available?
The maximum individual grant amount is £300, as this allows the charity to reach as many children and young people as possible. The critical household items that can be provided through the grants include clothing, baby equipment, cookers, fridges, beds, washing machines, furniture and kitchen equipment, however the charity can usually only assist with one item per successful application.
What is the deadline?
There is no deadline and the outcome for applications usually takes two to four weeks. Buttle UK receives around 15,000 applications a year and these are assessed by date received. Applications must be made by a support worker within an organisation that is supporting the family or young person and who can assess their needs. The charity will not accept applications from individuals directly.
