Business managers pass the test

1 min read Education
The extended schools programme has been boosted by 150 school business managers passing their National College for School Leadership courses.

The NCSL's Certificate of School Business Management and the more advanced Diploma of School Business Management both contain modules to help business managers meet the extended schools agenda.

This includes building partnerships with business and the community as well as making the best use of school premises during and outside of school hours.

Other components of the courses are managing resources effectively, attracting new revenue and providing the business expertise to support teaching. All elements have a strong focus on the Every Child Matters agenda and achieving better outcomes for pupils.

Trevor Summerson, senior programme manager at NCSL, said: "By providing the latest in a broad range of management functions, including financial and HR management and administrative know-how, they not only ensure their schools get best value but they also reduce the management burden on heads and teachers, allowing them to concentrate on teaching and raising school standards."
