Bullying: Alliance drops 'no blame' supporter

1 min read
The Anti-Bullying Alliance has dropped an organisation linked to the controversial "no blame" approach to bullying as one of its regional co-ordinators.

Following a review of appointments, the alliance decided not to renewthe contract with the South West regional co-ordinator, a role heldjointly by George Robinson and Barbara Maines of Lucky DuckPublishing.

The review concluded that it was not appropriate for anyone publiclyassociated with a single anti-bullying strategy to be a regionalco-ordinator.

Paul Ennals, chief executive of the National Children's Bureau, whichmanages the alliance, said there was no suggestion that Robinson andMaines had exclusively promoted the "no-blame" approach.

But he added: "The role of the alliance is to promote a full range ofstrategies. For this reason we concluded that is it is not appropriatefor any of our regional co-ordinators to have strong public links with asingle anti-bullying approach."
