Bradley Bar Day Nursery, Huddersfield.

1 min read Early Years
How is quality improving? Owner Holly Guite has taken the National Day Nursery Association's E-Quality Counts accredited course, achieving level 3, the highest mark. The scheme has encouraged Guite to review services, reflect on best practice and think about how to keep quality growing.

What does the scheme involve? Liaising with parents, staff and children in an effort to get their views; looking at current policies and procedures and seeing how they can be improved.

What changes have been introduced as a result of the scheme? The nursery now has a parents' forum, which meets on a termly basis. This has led to information meetings for parents, where they can learn more from experts about subjects such as baby phonics and recipes for healthy meals.

What else? It has developed outdoor play by applying for a Quality Enhancement Grant in order to buy a climbing frame. Staff have also introduced free-flow play, where children can choose to play anywhere outside or inside during core periods.
