BME: Project to seek out female role models

1 min read

The project is among 12 that the Department for Communities and Local Government was expected to announce funding for on Monday (2 April) to help more women into part-time work at management level.

The Blackburn project will involve 20 young women from black and minority ethnic communities. They will look for potential female role models who hold management posts with family-friendly working hours.

Researchers will track their progress to see what obstacles they have faced and what young women in their communities can learn from them.

The funding announcement was set to coincide with the publication of One Year On, a report setting out the progress made in implementing the recommendations of the Women and Work Commission report Shaping a Fairer Future, published in February last year.
