Workforce: Union in call for black role models

The Community and Youth Workers' Union (CYWU) is calling for more support for black youth workers who want to work in their communities.

A report from the government-backed Reach project last month called fora national role model scheme for black young men. The Communities andLocal Government department is investigating the idea.

But Doug Nicholls, general secretary of the CYWU, said it would beimportant for any scheme to recognise the potential for black youthworkers to act as role models.
