Aim: To warn young people of the dangers of carrying knives
Tower Hamlets Council has enlisted former Grange Hill, EastEnders and The Bill actor Todd Carty to star in a film aimed at exposing the grim reality of knife crime to young people.
Carty gave his services to the council for free to star in Blame, one of four short films being shown across the borough's secondary schools in assemblies and personal, social and health education lessons.
Carty plays a father who has lost his son to knife crime. The film explores the devastating effect this has on him and hammers home the message that knife crime wrecks lives. It also explores the motivation behind carrying knives. According to a council spokesman: "Being a father himself was enough motivation for Todd to lend his skills to the project."
