The Childcare Partners Scheme aims to improve services in areas such as information to families and professional development. The 70 providers, including nurseries and childminders, that have signed up benefit from having their services promoted at children's centres and schools. All those in the scheme benefit from joint training and access to expert staff.
The project has a strong focus on the extended schools agenda, with promotion of out-of-school and holiday activities also involved. Other organisations included in the partnership are Jobcentre Plus, Blackpool and the Fylde College, and Blackpool Out of School Association.
Rosemary Hanmore, Blackpool Borough Council's children's centre development co-ordinator, said: "The aims for the second year are obviously to get more providers signed up and to increase the work we do around extended schools and being more active in schools. The sharing of good practice is another benefit with experts at one organisation on hand to help one another."
