Blackpool Council's childcare register.

1 min read Early Years
What makes the register different?

The council has developed a targeted approach to its register. Extra support and guidance is offered for childcare providers for certain situations such as an Ofsted inspection or moving premises. The register is also broken down into areas of specialist expertise.

Why have a targeted register? The targeted register was developed to improve the quality of and access to childcare in the area, which is among the 20 per cent most deprived in England.

What are the benefits for those on the register? Those that receive good Ofsted reports are actively promoted through local children's centres. This acts as an incentive to ensure childcare providers prioritise improving services. All those on the register are also offered advice on joint working and are encouraged to share good practice.
