The reception that double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes received at an east London school, where she was visiting a sports open day in her role as patron of the Youth Sport Trust, was like that of a Hollywood actress. Wherever she went a cluster of young people formed around her, eager to find out her tips for success, get her to sign their PE kits or just get close enough to take a picture. In a short space of time she seemed to be everywhere - encouraging a young woman up the climbing wall, bouncing around a netball court and taking questions and answers from young people in the school gym.
