BIG INTERVIEW: The path to employment - Janet Ryland, manager for vocational programmes, Learning and Skills Council

2 mins read

The aim of e2e is to target 16- to 19-year-olds with learning needs or who are not engaged in employment, education or training. The programme, which has been piloted for the past year in 11 areas in England (see panel), has been rolled out to each of the LSC's 47 regions since August.

The council, which is responsible for post-16 learning in England, injected the 168m to start up the e2e programme and support it during its first year. In that time, the LSC expects to secure 50,000 young people with 500 learning providers over the coming year.

Janet Ryland, manager for vocational programmes at the council, says: "We used the pathfinders that were run by local LSCs to help us design the parameters for the programme. The pilot helped us to understand how the e2e framework panned out over 12 months, the issues we needed to resolve and who we were engaging with."
