Khan returns to the phone. "Things are busy at the moment," he says. "We're trying to sort out a couple of trips to Leeds United for the kids. We were going to have (Leeds and England footballer) Alan Smith at the event last week but he pulled out because of his injury. It was difficult breaking that news to the young people on the day, so now we want to do a visit instead."

The event in question was the launch of the Home Office's Impact Report, a review of the progress made by the Positive Futures scheme (YPN, 3-9 March, p2). For Calderdale Positive Futures, the event was a double success.
