Mehta is the chief executive and clerk to the trustees of the City Parochial Foundation, the London-based funding body that commissioned Different World, a report that challenges tabloid conceptions of young people, from social researchers Lemos&Crane (YPN, 1-7 November, p2). "Lemos&Crane had the idea for this report and we felt it's an area that needs addressing," he explains. "The analysis is theirs, but they draw on the experience of youth groups that we've funded and that have worked in some very interesting ways. We've got a long track record in youth issues, from the development of the polytechnic movement to today's mother-tongue and supplementary schools, and young people are still one of our priorities."
