BestPractice: The clinic -- Your questions answered

1 min read
We have a problem with a group of girls intimidating others at our youth club.

A number of members have left and the club has a funny atmosphere. Short of excluding those involved, how can I resolve the situation?

Bullying can have a lifelong impact on victims, so it is important that you act to stop this situation as soon as possible. Aim to both deal with the bullying behaviour and to support the victim. It's important for everyone to realise it's not on, so get the issue of bullying out in the open. Maybe hold a whole group session on bullying that will explore the ways of describing bullying - words about the feelings of the bullies or the victim - and look for suggestions of ways bullying could be stopped. For more information on bullying visit the Bullying UK website www.bullying.co.uk or contact 4Children on 020 7512 2100.
