I've volunteered with special needs children and young adults since the age of 15, but a year-and-a-half ago I spotted a Millennium Volunteer poster asking to help children with reading, when English isn't their first language.
Since becoming a full-time Millennium Volunteer, I've had more time to work with the YMCA at the Wetherby Young Offenders' Institution, which I've been doing since January 2003. I help deliver youth achievement awards.
This has made me determined to help people, and more confident. I might try and work in probation or on a youth offending team.
